OK, I’m going a bit crazy here as the layers get thicker it’s difficult to see where the problems lie. Sometimes alienating oneself from some is an attempt to hide an inability to work without corruption. Anyone who has worked with someone corrupt will know this.
Anyway not wanting to draw any conclusions I leave with my final mosquito bite for the evening…

Sadly not very much… at least the parks will be well kept (?)
The building in question to be expropriated is actually in Lumiar and not part of SGAL’s “area” ie the new area closer to the metro, however it will allow them to finish building the road between the two parks. I also have a suspicion (though don’t quote me) that the mention of estrada da chelas is for the company that also lies in the way of the road.
Since my last post on PRT and why it would be a good idea in Alta de Lisboa, the Heathrow project has gone ahead and construction is under way. Great news. Let’s hope this spreads (at the very least to the plans for the new airport). One would really hope that the new system is used more widely in Portugal and we will begin to see the beginning of a new era in transport.

The last is video is the most inspiring as it’s been running for so long. Let’s hope our politicians and town planners see some merit in this.
As I walked with my son to get the preparations for our small Halloween party we ran into a devastating sight… an old building on fire. My son noticed it first on the walk down to Lumiar (I was too busy looking for pot holes and avoiding larger dumper trucks where there are no pavements). As we approached we saw that the street was closed and the smoke was more than just another autumn bonfire. There were at least four fire trucks and every other rescue vehicle you can think of. The cynical inside told me that the fire was started on purpose (so close to the new highway… one can only wonder)..
Anyway I managed to get a few photos while my son was enthralled by seeing real live fire fighters fighting a real fire with real hose pipes (I think this is the first time I have seen a building on fire too).
TVI were also there but I don’t know if they got any good coverage ( I am not a particular fan + today was special halloween meal (no tv except scary movies)
